TECH-Plate Specifications
Proprietary protective coating system by TECH Industrial Services
TECH-Plate is a proprietary high-performance coating system developed by TECH Industrial Services to combat Corrosion, Cavitation, and Abrasion in the most demanding industrial environments. It is engineered for components operating in hydro power, petro chemical, oil and gas, mining, and pulp and paper applications where standard coatings fail prematurely.
Components that were considered Damaged Beyond Repair can frequently be rebuilt to better than original specification using TECH-Plate, significantly reducing replacement costs and downtime.

| Abrasion Resistance | Excellent — suitable for slurry, sand, and particulate-laden flows |
| Cavitation Resistance | High — proven in hydro turbine runner and draft tube applications |
| Chemical Resistance | Resistant to dilute acids, alkalis, hydrocarbons, and saltwater |
| Corrosion Protection | Barrier protection; prevents oxidation and galvanic corrosion |
| Application Method | Hand trowel, spatula, or brush; machined to final tolerance after cure |
| Surface Preparation | SSPC-SP 5 White Metal Blast or SSPC-SP 6 Commercial Blast (minimum) |
| Minimum DFT | 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) for structural rebuild; thinner coats for corrosion barrier |
Typical Application Areas
- Hydro turbine runners, stay vanes, wicket gates, and draft tubes
- Pump casings, impellers, and volutes
- Cooler end housings and heat exchanger components
- Pipe elbows, tees, and choke points subject to erosion
- Valve bodies and seats in abrasive or corrosive service
- Structural steel in marine and chemical environments
- Mining equipment wear surfaces — chutes, hoppers, and liners
- Oil & gas separator internals and pressure vessel components
Surface Preparation Requirements
Proper surface preparation is critical to achieving maximum bond strength. TECH Industrial Services recommends:
- Remove all oil, grease, and contaminants with solvent wipe (SSPC-SP 1).
- Abrasive blast to SSPC-SP 5 White Metal (preferred) or SSPC-SP 6 Commercial Blast (minimum). Profile: 2–4 mil anchor pattern.
- Apply TECH-Plate within 4 hours of blasting to prevent flash rust.
- For weld buildup repairs, grind welds flush and blend before coating.
Before & After — Cooler End Housing
BEFORE & AFTER COOLER END HOUSING

The corroded housing on the left was considered beyond economical repair. After weld buildup, precision machining, and TECH-Plate application, the restored component on the right meets or exceeds original dimensional and performance specifications.
